We asked Stacey a few questions about being a small business owner in Miami. Check out her responses below:

How has being a part of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava's STRIVE305 small business initiative helped support your business? ‍

I have been a part of the STRIVE305 community for over 2 and a half years. This community has helped me in so many ways, it would take more space than I'm allotted to talk about it. The community has given me opportunities to collaborate with other business owners and access information and resources. I like to say, being a part of this community has been a "business life saver". I distinctly remember at the height of the pandemic when everything was shut down, all my usual business income sources were closed. I didn't know what the fate of my business would be. I stayed with the STRIVE305 community despite how hopeless things seemed, at that time. As a result of remaining with STRIVE305; Danilo provided information and access to so many resources that not only helped my business, but was a big part of helping my business to come out of a financial gutter and bounce back. I'm so thankful for this community. The STRIVE305 community has been a voice of encouragement for me and other business owners, both in and outside of Miami-Dade County.

What is the origin story of your business?

As an island girl, mangos, guavas, coconuts, soursop and the like were all a huge part of my childhood! My grandmother had every imaginable tree in her yard! I learned so many tips and tricks about natural living from my Granny! She was known for helping heal people through herbs. I gravitated toward this natural lifestyle and incorporated natural health practices into my life for a long time. However, when I moved away from the island, and traveled with the military, I was often challenged with severe skin discoloration. I spent thousands of dollars trying to remedy this problem. My confidence was affected greatly. I wore makeup everywhere and everyday to cover it up! It wasn’t until I returned to my Caribbean roots and my Granny's remedies, that I was able to overcome this challenge. After overcoming my skin challenges, I had a passion to help other women do the same. And with this passion, Stacey’s Naturals was born.

What is your favorite thing about being a small business owner?

My favorite thing about being a small business owner is the opportunity to speak with my lovely clients face to face. I love this, because it gives me an opportunity to get to know them better, understand their needs, and challenges. The ultimate satisfaction is when they call or text me to let me know that something that I created helped them with their own challenges. This is the greatest feeling!!!

Tell us about a great program, organization, or opportunity that really helped you and your business.

There are a number of great organizations that have really helped my business. However, I would highlight the most recent ones that have had a great impact on me and my business; STRIVE305, Startup FIU, and Scale Up at the Idea Center (Miami-Dade College). Thank you and hats off to these organizations. I have been blessed to be helped by these organizations.
