This Anchor Alliance Partner uses the following language when communicating about business opportunities.
Vendors: the businesses that provide the goods and services this institution needs. Once the vendor has registered with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, they are referred to as ‘Registered Vendors’.
Certified Vendors: these are vendors that are already registered and are certified as Micro/Small, Minority/Women or Veteran Business Enterprises.
Invitation to Bid (ITB): a notification detailing the goods and/or services Miami-Dade County Public Schools is planning to purchase. These often include important information that a vendor needs to know in order to fulfill this request. The terms ‘Solicitation’ or ‘Bid Solicitation’ are also used and refer to the same thing.
Request for Proposal (RFP): the responses the institution has received from businesses for the solicitations it has posted. The terms ‘Bids’ and ‘Proposals’ are also used and refer to the same thing.
Procurement: refers to both the department and the process of handling all purchases and relationships with vendors. Procurement is handled through Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Procurement Management Services.
