How we verify listings
Finding help is hard enough without wondering whether a program is real, current or still open. Here is what we do before a program appears on Axis Helps, and how we keep it accurate afterward.
How a program gets listed
- We look for programs twice a week. We search government agencies, community lenders (CDFIs), nonprofits, foundations, and city and county economic development offices for grants, loans, training and other help.
- We check each program against its own official page. Before anyone on our team sees a program, we confirm that the information comes from the provider itself, not a copycat or listing site; that the link works; and that the program is open, accepting applications on a rolling basis, or opens in regular rounds. We take the deadline, award amount, eligibility and service area from the provider's page, and check that the program isn't already listed.
- We screen for scams. We reject programs that promise guaranteed money, ask for bank details up front, or charge unreasonable fees to apply. Some government, community lender and nonprofit programs charge a small, standard application fee; when they do, the listing says so.
- A person approves every new listing. A member of our team reviews each program and decides whether it goes on the site. Nothing is published automatically.
What “Last verified” means
Listings show the month we last confirmed them against the provider's own information. Right now, 227 of 310 listings show a date. The other 83 came from Axis Helps' earlier resource list, before this process started; they are being re-checked and will show a date once they are.
Keeping listings current
Starting in November 2026, we re-check every listing once a month. We look for broken links, programs that have ended, deadlines that have passed, details that have changed, and programs that have opened a new round. When something has changed, we update the listing or take it down.
What we don't do
- We don't sell placement. No program pays to be listed or to appear higher on Axis Helps.
- We don't take applications. You always apply directly with the program provider. Axis Helps will never ask you for a fee or your bank information.
What we can't promise
Programs can change between our checks. A provider may close applications, run out of money or change who qualifies without notice. Always confirm the details with the provider before you apply or make plans.
The site's menus and guidance are available in English, Spanish (Español) and Haitian Creole (Kreyòl ayisyen). Program details are shown in English, the way the provider publishes them.
Spot something wrong?
If a link is broken, information looks out of date, or a program seems closed or suspicious, email us at info@axishelps.org with the program's name, and we'll check it.
